Group 1 Criterion:

• CMV retinitis (active or inactive)

Group 2 Criteria:

• No CMV retinitis
• Lowest ever CD4 count less than 30 cells/mm3
• Not receiving any anti-CMV drugs (ganciclovir, foscarnet, valganciclovir, cidofovir) at the time of lowest CD4 count

Participants in both groups will receive:

• Dilated eye exam
• Blood sample will be taken
• Parking pass will be provided (no other compensation will be provided)

Total time required: about 1 hour
