How we use your donations:

Thank you for visiting the UCLA Clinical AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Center website. The UCLA CARE Center is the treatment and clinical care arm of the UCLA AIDS Institute providing care and access to cutting-edge clinical trials to people living with HIV. Through research, education, advocacy, and services, we aim to prevent, control HIV, and to ensure a positive quality of life for people living with HIV.

We use your donation to support services and clinical and behavioral research and to translate research in the laboratory into projects that might eventually help people living with HIV or prevent infection.

We transform people's lives everyday. And we need your help.

Here are just some of the ways we'll use your donation to make a positive difference in someone's life:

Patient support

  • Provide small meals for patients who need to fast prior to procedures.
  • Provide transportation to patients and research trial participants who would otherwise be unable to access our services or would be unable to participate in research.

Research and Care

  • Dr Currier received a five year grant from NIH to study cardiovascular and metabolic implications of antretroviral therapy for HIV in previously untreated patients. Your donation will leverage funding for more studies such as this. In order to receive a federal grant, preliminary data must be obtained. Your donations will assist our researchers in obtaining this preliminary data that are used to develop larger program grants.
  • New faculty members from several different specialties continue to see and care for HIV patients in the CARE Center’s clinic, making it possible to increase the number of patients with HIV and AIDS treated in our clinic.
  • The UCLA CARE Center is an off-campus clinic and is responsible for lease of space to provide care and facilitate research. Some of these costs are covered under grants, however, insurance reimbursements are insufficient to cover the rates for our valued clinical patients. Your donations assist us in providing a central and accessible space for our patients and research participants.

Fellowships

  • To attract the best scientific minds to the study of HIV we offer training fellowships in basic, clinical and behavioral science to scientists at the start of their careers.

Education

  • The world-class faculty of the UCLA CARE Center provides a yearly seminar for primary care providers throughout the Los Angeles area to assist them in providing more cutting edge care for their HIV-infected patients.
