This study is developing educational materials for men about rectal microbicides, assessing the best format to deliver this information and considering potential barriers to microbicide trial participation by analyzing factors that facilitate enrollment in a microbicide trial registry at three community sites.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Anatomically male
- At least 18 years of age
- History of self-reported receptive anal intercourse in the past 12 months
- Willing to be tested for sexually transmitted infections including HIV, if HIV status is negative or previously unknown
- Mentally competent to understand study procedures and give informed consent
Exclusion criteria:
- Less than 18 years of age
- Unwilling to be tested for sexually transmitted infections (and HIV)
- Unwilling to provide personal contact information on a confidential locator form
- Unwilling to complete study questionnaire
- Not mentally competent to understand the study procedures and give informed consent.
